Thrush The common vaginal yeast infection thrush is a type of vaginitis – an inflammation of your vagina. Both fungus and bacteria naturally live in your vagina, but when the fungus Candida albicans increases, it can cause thrush. This fungus may increase when your immune system is weak or when good bacteria (called lactobacilli) can’t keep the fungus under control.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) may sound scary, but it's very common and easily treated. If you do get BV, remember you’re not alone. BV is the most common cause of vaginal infections in women of childbearing age.
Cystitis is the medical name given to an inflammation of the bladder that affects up to 40% of women. The feeling that you need to urinate more often and suffering from uncomfortable or even painful urination are two of the main symptoms that indicate you may be suffering from cystitis.
