This convenient anti-fungal spray has been specially formulated with clotrimazole, an anti-fungal medication which effectively treats your fungal skin infection whilst relieving your symptoms such as irritated and itchy skin.

Easy to use at home, the formula is mild but effective and thus suitable for the whole family.

What are fungal skin infections

Fungi live all around us - in the air, soil, water and plants. Some even live naturally on our skin and in small amounts are not harmful to our health. But when too much grows it can cause a fungal skin infection. As it’s difficult to avoid the fungi around us, fungal skin infections are very common. Some examples of fungal skin infections include ringworm, jock itch, fungal sweat rash and fungal nappy rash.

Good to know!

Fungal skin infections are common, so if you are suffering from one you are not alone. They may feel uncomfortable, but in most cases there’s nothing to worry about and they can be treated easily.

Common symptoms of skin fungus

The symptoms of a fungal infection will depend on the type, but they often include:

  • A scaly rash or discolouration of your skin

  • Itching

How to use?

Apply the spray thinly to the affected area. Repeat 2-3 times a day for 2-4 weeks to treat the root of the infection. The symptoms of the infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment. Signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear.

Don’t forget!

Even if your symptoms seem to be clearing up, you should complete the full course of treatment to ensure the infection is treated.

When you have a fungal skin infection

Fungal skin infections can get worse if left untreated. That’s why you shouldn’t ignore them:

An infection doesn’t disappear just because symptoms do. You should complete the full course of treatment to ensure the infection is treated.

If untreated, fungal skin infections like ringworm can spread to other parts of your body and cause other types of fungal skin infections or fungal nail.

Care about your loved ones

Fungal skin infections are very contagious. They can spread to other parts of your body or to other people.  Here are a few things you can do to help prevent spreading it to your loved ones:

Frequently Asked Questions about jock itch

What can I do to treat Jock Itch?

Jock itch is a fungal infection, so you can use an anti-fungal treatment to clear it up. Click here to find out about our range of jock itch products.

I have a rash on my scrotum and/or penis, is this jock itch?

Not usually as jock itch is normally found around the groin area, inner thighs and buttocks, not your genitalia. If you have a rash on your scrotum and/or your penis, it’s best to see your doctor so you get the correct diagnosis and treatment.

How long does the treatment last?

Once you start treatment your jock itch should clear up within 2-4 weeks. If the symptoms do not improve or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Should I stop having sex until my jock itch clears up?

Yes, you should. Since this fungal infection is contagious, it could be transferred to your partner during sex.

    Frequently Asked Questions about ringworm

      Is ringworm caused by worms?

No! Ringworm is a fungal skin infection and has nothing to do with worms. It gets its name from the ring-shaped rash that develops on your skin from the fungal infection (it may look different on your face neck or scalp).

      Is ringworm contagious?

Yes, ringworm is contagious and can be transmitted from human to human or through touching contaminated objects.

For tips on how to lower your risk of ringworm and stop it from spreading, visit our ringworm condition page.

      How do I treat ringworm?

As ringworm is a fungal infection, you can use an anti-fungal treatment to treat it effectively. Canesten® has a range of treatment products available including different formats.

      Can animals get ringworm?

Yes. If your pet has patches of missing fur, it could be ringworm. Check your family and other pets for signs of the infection and take your pet to the vet as soon as possible.

How can I prevent ringworm in future?

Ringworm is contagious, however you can take measures to prevent it from spreading. For example, if someone has ringworm, make sure you do not share personal items like towels, combs or bedsheets. For more prevention tips visit our ringworm condition page.

Frequently Asked Questions about sweat rash

How do I know if I have sweat rash?

Common symptoms include a red rash, inflamed, itchy or broken skin. These symptoms usually show up in areas where your skin rubs together, such as under your arms.

Click here to see more symptoms of sweat rash.

        What causes sweat rash?

Also known as intertrigo, sweat rash is an inflammation of the skin that occurs when your skin is moist and has been subjected to friction. Sweat rash most commonly appears in areas where your skin rubs together and where there is less air circulation such as under your armpits, in the groin area, under your breasts and between abdominal skin folds.

Will regular moisturiser or body creams help with sweat rash?

Candidal sweat rash may not go away on its own; you can use an anti-fungal product to treat it. If your sweat rash is inflamed, you can use an anti-fungal treatment also containing an anti-inflammatory like hydrocortisone which treats inflammation. For more information, visit our sweat rash condition page.

What can I do to prevent sweat rash in future?

Keep your skin cool and dry and try to stick to wearing clothes with breathable fabric such as cotton. Visit our sweat rash condition page for more tips on preventing sweat rash.

Frequently Asked Questions about nappy rash

          What causes nappy rash?

Nappy rash, also known as diaper rash, is a common type of skin rash that affects the nappy area. It occurs when skin remains in prolonged contact with urine or stool inside a tight-fitting nappy which can rub and prevent air circulation. If you find that your baby’s nappy rash persists for 3 days or more, it’s most likely infected with candida yeast resulting in a fungal nappy rash infection.

My baby’s nappy rash has lasted for several days, what should I do?

If the rash has not improved despite treatments, it could be Candidal nappy rash, which can be treated with an anti-fungal treatment. If you suspect your baby might have Candidal nappy rash, please see your doctor.

          What products can I use?

You can protect your baby’s bottom from the causes of nappy rash by using a nappy care ointment, such as Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment, at every nappy change. Bepanthen ointment works in two ways to care for baby’s skin and protect it from the causes of nappy rash. It contains pro-vitamin B5 which gently aids natural recovery of sensitive skin while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturised. Bepanthen protects your baby’s delicate skin from irritants and rubbing by forming a transparent layer. If your baby has Candidal nappy rash, you can treat the infection with an anti-fungal product such as Canesten® Cream. Click here to learn more about treating nappy rash.

What can I do to protect against the causes of nappy rash?

Try to allow your baby to move around without a nappy on for as long as possible, make sure to change nappies regularly, and use a barrier cream like Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment every day to care for and protect your baby’s delicate skin from irritants and rubbing. For more top tips on prevention, visit our nappy rash condition page here.
