Canesten® Athlete’s Foot 1% w/w Cream

Canesten® Athlete’s Foot 1% w/w Cream is an effective athlete’s foot solution which stops fungal growth, destroys the fungi and soothes itching.

This easy to use cream has been specially formulated with clotrimazole, an anti-fungal/anti-bacterial medication that treats all types of athlete’s foot without inflammation.

The active ingredient clotrimazole is anti-fungal to treat the fungi that causes your athlete’s foot as well as being anti-bacterial to help get rid of the bacteria that can cause your feet to smell.

What is athlete’s foot?

Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) is a fungal infection that affects the skin on your feet. It is caused by fungi that thrive in warm and moist environments like changing rooms, showers and public pools. Walking barefoot in these places can put you at greater risk. Athlete’s foot usually occurs between your toes, but it can also affect the soles and sides of your feet.

You don’t have to be an athlete to get infected, athlete’s foot is very common. Athlete’s foot may feel uncomfortable, but in most cases there’s nothing to worry about and it can be treated easily.

Common symptoms of athlete’s foot

You might have athlete’s foot if you notice:

  • Burning or itchy feet and toes

  • Scaly, very dry, cracked or peeling feet

  • A scaly, red foot rash

  • Softening or whitening of the skin between your toes

  • Cracked skin between your toes that may bleed

  • Smelly feet

How to use?

Apply the cream thinly to the affected area and smooth in gently. Repeat 2-3 times a day for 4 weeks to treat the infection and prevent re-infection. The symptoms of the infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment. Signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, consult your doctor.

Don’t forget!

Even if your symptoms seem to be clearing up, you should complete the full course of treatment to ensure the infection is treated.

    How long does the treatment take?

    Depending on the product, recommended treatment time varies from 1 to 4 weeks. The symptoms of the skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment with all Canesten® athlete’s foot creams. Signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen after using an athlete’s foot treatment, please consult your doctor.

    Can I continue exercising if I have athlete’s foot?

    Athlete’s foot shouldn’t stop you from exercising, though you should stay away from swimming in order to help prevent spreading the infection. When exercising, you should wear cotton socks, which are more breathable, and in changing rooms you should wear flip flops or sandals. After exercising, be sure to properly clean and dry your feet, wash your socks in hot water and let your shoes dry after wearing them.
